JAY — New Life Baptist Church is hosting a special service to honor area veterans this Sunday, Nov. 12, at the church, located at 66 Hyde Rd. in Jay, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Pastor Chris Grimbilas and the entire congregation would like to welcome veterans and their families from all branches of the military to participate.

“There are dozens of reasons for honoring those who served in our military,” says Pastor Grimbilas, “but number one on the list is simple. Without our military, we would not have the freedoms we enjoy today as Americans.”

Other reasons listed by Pastor Grimbilas include the courage shown and the sacrifices made by the men and women of the Armed Forces. The reason the church wants to honor veterans is because, as a group, they feel that the service offered by our military is far too often taken for granted.

This patriotic commemoration will be filled with music celebrating the freedom we have as American, messages of encouragement and gratitude for our veterans, and a light lunch following the service. Pastor Grimbilas and the church would like to extend a special invitation to members of the area’s American Legion Posts, VFW posts and Amvets posts.

New Life Baptist Church is a community oriented church that puts people above formality. The regular services of the church are geared to be helpful, relevant, and encouraging, with a goal of strengthening families. The church is also host to the Friday night “Reformers Unanimous” addiction recovery program.

All are welcome to celebrate the holiday season at New Life Baptist Church. Throughout December, Pastor Grimbilas will be focusing on Christmas every Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m.
