Vacation Bible School children entertain with songs

North Livermore Baptist Church recently held a Vacation Bible School.

Music in the Meeting House featured Debra Hebert, who blessed us with old, and new songs accompanied on the guitar. A talented lady who uses her gifts to praise the Lord, and lift the hearts of those who hear her.

Some of the VBS attendees entertained us with their songs. “Over the Moat”, averaged 30 students a night, and they collected 198 pounds of food for the food bank. A great group of kids, can’t wait for next year.

The Message was titled, “Come Follow Me,” based on the scripture, Mark 1:16-18, 16 As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 17 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 18 At once they left their nets and followed him.

These were the first of the 12 disciples that Jesus called. Not rich learned men but lowly fishermen. What does the call of Jesus mean to us today?

We are called to be disciples, so we need to put away our small ventures and begin investing in God’s kingdom. Our problem is that when we get past the gates of salvation we sit down and wait, like we have already arrived. But really, it is just the beginning of what God has for us. We need to be sharing our testimonies with others so they too can accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.

God sacrificed His son for our sins, all we most do is accept Him, ask for forgiveness, and share Him with others. Are you ready to follow Jesus?

Events: Pastor Bonnie’s office hours Monday and Tuesday 9-12 a.m.; Monday night Bible study 6 p.m.; Tuesday afternoon Bible study 1 p.m.; Sunday, July 23 at 9 a.m. Music in Meeting House guest, Mitch Thomas; Morning Worship at 9:30 a.m.; also at 2 p.m. installation service for Pastor Bonnie Higgins followed by a reception in our fellowship hall.
