FARMINGTON — Franklin County Animal Shelter has announced the Pets of the Week.

Mason and Dawson are the Dogs of the Week. They were surrendered as a pair when their owner lost everything in a house fire. Mason is 2 years old, and Dawson is 6, and the male dogs are of mixed breeding. Dawson’s eyesight requires daily tender love and care. Both dogs are good with kids and cats. Dawson is good with other dogs; however, Mason is selective about his canine companions — except Dawson, whom he loves.

The dogs have lived together since Mason was born, and they hope to stay together. To accommodate this, the shelter is charging only one adoption fee for the pair.

Carra, a 1- to 3-year-old, is the Cat of the Week. When she first arrived at the shelter, Carra was shy and made the lobby cabinet her home. Now she has had a change of heart, amazing staff as she drapes over counters and desks looking for attention. She would make a great addition to an office. She hopes for a lap she can cuddle in.

Mason, Dawson, Carra and other pets may be visited at the shelter from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays at 550 Industry Rd. Cats and dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption and have been vaccinated for rabies, treated for fleas, microchipped and have had nail trims. The shelter also rehomes barn cats, livestock and other pets.
