JAY — Children enjoyed Christmas activities hosted by are Veterans Auxiliaries on Saturday.

At Frank L. Mitchell Post 3335 VFW, children shopped for gifts for family members and visited with Santa Claus.

Auxiliary member Barbara Cook said the children paid $0.25 for each gift chosen.

At Lane-Dube Post 33 AMVETS a Christmas party was underway. Ten tickets could be purchased for $2. Activities could be enjoyed by providing the required number of tickets.

Some families enjoyed lunch together. Several children played bean bag toss or juggled the bean bags.

The cake walk was a popular game. For two tickets, contestants stood on a number, then made their way around the circle until the music stopped. The person standing on the number drawn got to choose a decorated cake or cupcakes to take home.

Sheila Weed said the Auxiliary holds the party every year.

Charlene Clements said the party has been held 20 years if not longer.

“The Auxiliary raises money for it all year long. The kids enjoy it,” Weed said
